Call for help, dial 911. AN OPIOID OVERDOSE NEEDS IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION. All you have to say is: “Someone is not breathing.” Be sure to give a clear address and/or description of your location. Emergency medical responders in Jefferson County carry Naloxone Kits. Naloxone is a prescription medicine that reverses opioid (prescription or heroin) overdoses. Also known by brand names “Narcan” or “Evzio,” Naloxone works within minutes to restore breathing in people overdosing on opiate drugs. It blocks the receptors and essentially reverses the effects of the drugs. Naloxone Kits are available from dispensers at Quilcene Fire Station 21 and the Quilcene Community Center as well as from Jefferson County Public Health Department and pharmacies with no prescription. WA State Good Samaritan Law protects those seeking help and assisting during an overdose. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use, help is available through the Washington Recovery Help Line at 1-866-789-1511.
